This year, we’re stepping out of the studio and onto a stage we’ve admired for a long time: MINUTE_MAPP, the projection mapping showcase of Festival MAPP_MTL. MAPPLIGHTS is officially entering the 2026 edition, and we’re genuinely excited to share it.

What Festival MAPP_MTL Is

Festival MAPP_MTL is a Montreal-based non-profit celebrating the art of projection mapping. For ten years, the festival has brought together artists, studios, and audiences around digital art and public space, free for everyone.

2026 marks the 10th edition. Ten years turning Montreal facades into living canvases is no small thing. This year, MAPPLIGHTS is part of that story.

MINUTE_MAPP: One Minute, One Vision

MINUTE_MAPP is the festival’s signature format: a short projection mapping piece, created and executed by an artist or studio, projected in public space for the public to experience. No client brief, no brand book. Just a vision, a surface, and one minute to bring it to life.

This year’s theme: Crossroads. An intersection. A meeting point. Exactly the kind of playground where our visual, immersive approach thrives.

Why We’re Getting Involved

We’ve been designing custom projection mapping experiences for brands, festivals, and corporate events for a while now, from solo activations to multi-city tours. But MINUTE_MAPP is different: a chance to create without a brand constraint, just for the medium itself, alongside a community of artists we’ve admired since we started.

It’s also a way to give back. Festival MAPP_MTL does essential work keeping projection mapping alive and accessible in Montreal. Participating is our way of saying thank you to a scene that inspired us. MAPPLIGHTS was founded in Montreal in 2021; MINUTE_MAPP is a chance to put that same craft back into the city where our studio started. Curious how we work? Meet the team.

Key Dates

– Artist and studio registration deadline: August 30

– Selected works showcased: October 1, during the festival

If you’re an artist or studio and Crossroads speaks to you, time is tight but there’s still room to put something solid together. Curious what other festivals are worth the trip this year? We rounded up our picks in our festival guide.

Want In Too

MINUTE_MAPP isn’t reserved for established studios. It’s open to anyone with a vision and the drive to project it in public. And if creating isn’t your thing but you still want to be part of the festival, the team is also looking for volunteers to help run the October 1 event.
